”Naturallly, we are incredibly happy for the recognition. There is a continuing large focus on healthcare construction and healing architecture, where you increasingly focus on the patients rather than the institution exclusively. In other words, you regard healthcare construction on a human scale, which translates into beautiful and sensuous buildings. These values are if anything manifested in GAPS, and this is strongly emphasized by tonight’s MIPIM Award,” says Thomas West Jensen, partner in Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects.

GAPS won the Nordic battle over Swedish contestant RPC in Trelleborg in the “Best Healthcare Development” category.

When the awards were concluded GAPS stood as the only Nordic winner.

For Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects it was the second Healtcare Development victory at Mipim Awards. In 2015, New Hospital North Zealand – designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects in collaboration with Herzog & de Meuron – won one of the esteemed prizes.
