Silkeborg IF are about to move into the city's new stadium, Jysk park. This opens up new business opportunities for the football club, with access to the city's largest conference and restaurant venue for seating up to 1,000 dining guests.

On this basis, Silkeborg IF Invest A/S buys the hotel Papirfabrikken Radisson BLU, which will provide the expertise and capacity to enter the conference market.

”Instead of building an organization, we have bought one. It makes good sense. Radisson BLU is facing a property generational shift, and the hotel is already one of the largest tenants at Papirfabrikken. The acquisition strengthens our overall business base,” explains CEO Kent Madsen, Silkeborg IF Invest.

The hotel is currently owned by Silkom, which in addition to Silkeborg IF Director Kent Madsen, is owned by Ole Hansen and Uffe Berg Pedersen. All three have significant shareholdings in Silkeborg IF Invest A/S, and they have said yes to sell the hotel for MDKK 1.25 (EUR 168,000), corresponding to the book equity per. 31 December 2016.

Hotel Papirfabrikken A / S, which operates Hotel Papirfabrikken Radisson BLU, becomes a subsidiary of Silkeborg IF Invest A. This gives the group three business legs: football, business rental of the paper factory and hotel and conference operations. Total revenue is expected to reach around MDKK 120 million (EUR 16M) in 2018, equally divided between the three business areas.

The acquisition of the Hotel Papirfabrikken Radisson BLU will strengthen Silkeborg IF Invest's overall business base, but is expected to not affect the profit for the current financial year. The acquisition has no consequences in relation to the cooperation that SIF has with a wide range of area restorers regarding food delivery to Eniig Lounge in connection with home matches.
