The first phase of the school and multipurpose centre is a three-storey building of approximately 8,400 square metres with facilities for grades 1–6 and preschool education. The multipurpose facilities will provide facilities for residents and associations for evening and weekend use and recreational activities. The value of the project to YIT is approximately EUR19 million. The project will be entered in the order book for the third quarter of the year.

Turenki’s new school and multipurpose centre will be built on the sand field of the current primary school and it will be connected with a covered corridor to the existing library and sports facilities. School yards will be located between the new building and the artificial grass field.

Renewable energy sources will be utilised in the building, including geothermal heat and solar panels. The energy efficiency of the school and multipurpose centre will be class A.

Construction has already begun in June and school work at the new site will open in autumn 2023.
