Postitalo has a unique significance in the company's history. Postitalo was built for Posti, and the construction was completed in 1938. The iconic building served as Posti's headquarters for decades until the early 2000s. Now the building is undergoing a major renovation under the supervision of the Finnish Heritage Agency. Once completed, Postitalo offers modern facilities for our current and future needs.
”We had a great opportunity to move back into a building that not only offers us suitable spaces for the present, but also a strong link to our nearly 400-year history. Few companies have headquarters in a building named after them. Our new facilities are a tribute to the professionalism of the Posti employees for centuries,” says Anna Salmi, SVP, People, Communications and Sustainability at Posti.
The move became topical as the Postipuisto area surrounding the current headquarters will transform mainly into a residential area. Technological developments and the COVID-19 pandemic have changed the way we work. The facilities and functionalities of the new head office are designed to meet current needs and hybrid work is considered in the design of the facilities. Today, about 600 employees work at Posti's head office in various positions.
The move of the head office is scheduled to take place at the end of 2025. Posti has not owned the Postitalo property for more than 20 years. The property is owned by the pension insurance company Ilmarinen. Posti will rent the facilities. The main post office, which serves customers and corporate customers, moved to Postitalo in November 2021. The Helsinki postal center, located in the vicinity of the current headquarters, will continue to operate in Pasila.
"We are renovating the Postitalo building responsibly, respecting its history and at the same time preparing it for the requirements of the changing working life. Posti's return to Postitalo tells that the center of Helsinki is still attractive when the facilities are renovated to meet the needs of the market. We are honored to welcome Posti's head office back to Postitalo,” says Annika Valpola, Account Manager at Ilmarinen.
