Logicenters is now looking to grow further in the Öresund region through the acquisition of a site in Køge, Denmark. The land has been sold by Køge municipality, with the site forming part of the municipality's long-term expansion plans for the Skandinavisk Transport Center logistics park. The area is approximately 160,000 sqm in size, with Logicenters’ buildings scheduled to account for around 70,000 sqm of this.
“The Öresund region is an enormously competitive and growing region. Our presence in Køge is key to strengthening Logicenters’ position as a leading logistics player in the Nordic region. The undeveloped land gives us the opportunity to meet the needs of potential tenants for a modern logistics property. We will work with the tenant to develop and customise the property. We are happy that Køge municipality recognises the opportunities here and is allowing us to invest in the area,” says Matthias Kettelhoit, Head of Logicenters.
The proximity to Copenhagen and Malmö makes the Skandinavisk Transport Center a strategic location for logistics and transport, especially as the E20, E55 and E47 motorways all pass through Køge. A newly built railway station near the logistics park also provides excellent options for commuting to and from Copenhagen. In addition, the port of Køge is only three kilometres away, ideally located on the Baltic Sea, in close proximity to the Baltic countries. In the future, the Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link will also connect Køge to Germany and the rest of Europe.
“Here in Køge we benefit from our unique location in the vicinity of Copenhagen, and the easy access to the rest of Zealand. This has contributed to creating a growing municipality, and a municipality which is strongly on its way to establishing itself as Zealand’s power centre. It is with great pleasure that we can now welcome a new, great player, namely Logicenters. When they move into Scandinavian Transport Centre, it once again shows that the future lies in Køge,” states Mayor of Køge, Marie Stærke.
“Køge is and has been an ideal base for many years. That is why Skandinavisk Transport Center is delighted to welcome Logicenters to Køge. The site will be ideal for Logicenters’ future tenants who want to become part of a growing logistics park in the best location with 1.5 million consumers in close proximity,” says Thomas Elm Kampmann, CEO of Skandinavisk Transport Center.
