RegionCity is Jernhusen’s major urban development project adjacent to Gothenburg Central Station, where there are plans for new public transport hubs, the West Link’s  Centralen station and new neighborhoods. NCC and Jernhusen have now signed an agreement to jointly develop the first phase, Park Central, which is the property located just north of Gothenburg’s existing Central Station.

“With Park Central, the central station area in Gothenburg is being developed into a hub for public transport with workplaces and services. This is one of our most extensive urban development projects. Common for all Jernhusen's projects is to develop safe and sustainable environments that contribute to public transport. In that way, we make a difference for people and the environment”, says Kerstin Gillsbro, CEO of Jernhusen.

The project comprises a station and office building totaling approximately 40,000 square meters. The office tenants will have large, cohesive areas on each floor, a unique verdant roof terrace and a broad offering of services on the station level. The building will be constructed above the West Link and be connected with the West Link’s Centralen station, which NCC has been working on since 2018 on behalf of the Swedish Transport Administration.

The project is being conducted jointly, with NCC Property Development and Jernhusen each owning 50 percent of a joint venture company. The parties have also agreed that Jernhusen will purchase NCC’s share on completion in 2026.

“This is one of the country’s most attractive urban development projects and we are extremely pleased and proud of the confidence that Jernhusen has placed in us. Our solid experience of property development in Gothenburg and in other major Nordic cities enables us, together with Jernhusen, to realize the vision of developing the city’s most important hub,” says Joachim Holmberg, Head of NCC Property Development.

Park Central is designed by the architectural firm Krook & Tjäder. The building will be constructed in accordance with the BREEAM environmental certification system’s Excellent level.

The construction contract is expected to be signed at the end of 2022 and construction is scheduled to commence at the end of 2023 and be completed at the end of 2026. The project will be conducted by the NCC Property Development business area.
