“This campus project is important for several reasons. For the city, it is large in scope and therefore has a significant impact on the service we can offer, the city’s property portfolio and our finances. The project has been prepared properly and thoroughly, so you could say that the campus is already halfway done. We’re now entering the construction phase together with our contractor NCC,” says Jyrki Haapasaari, Director of Technical Services for the City of Kaarina.
NCC’s assignment is for the construction of a two-storey school building encompassing approximately 12,000 square metres. The new building will be constructed adjacent to the Valkeavuori sports hall, which NCC completed during the spring. In conjunction with construction of the new school, some of the older school buildings will be demolished.
“NCC is one of the largest school builders in the Nordic region. For example, prior to the summer, we commenced two school projects in Finland. These experiences are very valuable in our work. After the completion of Valkeavuori sports hall, it will be very exciting to continue building in the area,” says Catarina Molén-Runnäs, Head of NCC Building Nordics.
Construction will begin at the end of 2022 and completion of the school is planned for spring 2025.
The transaction is a turnkey contract, with an order value amounting to approximately SEK 380 million, and will be registered among orders in the third quarter of 2022 in the NCC Building Nordics business area.
