With its unique Viking Age collection, including the world’s oldest and best preserved Viking ships, it is one of Norway’s most visited and one of the world’s most important cultural and historical museums - acknowledged by The Times as one of the world's 50 best museums.

No other era in Norwegian history has had such great national and international importance as the Viking Age. The vision is, thus, to create a world-leading centre for the dissemination of knowledge about the Viking Age. This will be a cultural building in an international league of its own, and AART look forward to a close and committed cooperation with Statsbygg and our sub-consultants, including landscape architect SLA and cultural heritage consultant Jens Treider.

Thw new Viking Age Museum will comprise 13,000 sqm.
