Peab has been commissioned to build a new ice skating rink and an extension of Catena Arena in Ängelholm. The customer is Arenabolaget i Ängelholm AB and the contract is worth SEK 228 million.

The project is located in the southern section of Ängelholm and consists of both an addition to and extension of the existing Catena Arena as well as a new ice skating rink. The capacity of the arena will increase by more than 1,500 for a seating capacity of around 6,500. The project includes balcony stands, dressing rooms, standing room and more restaurant space as well as new functions and event space. The total addition is more than 3,300 m2 where the new fourth floor will be 2,800 m2. The new ice skating rink will be nearly 3,500 m2.

“This project is an important investment in the future of the Ängelholm region which we are naturally proud to contribute to. Arenastaden reinforces its position as a meeting place and improves opportunities for people to be healthy and have meaningful spare time activities. In other words, this a good example of our locally produced community building,” says Bratislav Marjanovic, Region Manager Peab.

“It feels really good to get going on this stage of the project. It’s important for youths to have healthy free time choices and Arenastaden is a way for us to encourage that. We want to profile Ängelholm as a sports city for people who are active at all levels and all ages,” says Anders Nelson, CEO of Arenabolaget.

The project is a turnkey contract in partnering. Construction of Catena Arena will start in September 2020 and is expected to be completed in February 2022. Construction of the ice skating rink will start in September 2020 and is expected to be completed in August 2021. The project will be order registered in the third quarter 2020.
