The project entails tearing down parts of the old Lundby High School and building a new school with room for 600 students in grades 7 to 9 and 20 students in vocational school. It also includes building two sports halls with stands for 1,000 spectators as well as an arts school. The aula and lobby from the old high school will be preserved as a meeting place for Lundby’s cultural events.

“We look forward to working together with Property Management on Lundby’s new middle school. Like Peab the City of Gothenburg focuses on environmental and sustainability matters and we can make high demands on, for example, transportation, material selection and recycling in the project,” says Stellan Haraldson, Region Manager Peab.

“We’re thrilled to finally start up full production of a new meeting place in Lundby for the citizens of Gothenburg and together with Peab be able to create environments for learning, physical activity and creativity, spheres where there is room to live and breathe,” says Lina Cavallin, Area Manager, City of Gothenburg Property Management.

The project is included in a strategic partnering contract for two schools with an option for another two schools. The first school in the contract, Glöstorp School, will soon be completed and ready for students to start there in the fall term 2021.

“This kind of long lasting collaboration enables us to get to know each other’s respective operations and this increases understanding for each other’s processes. When we built Glöstorp School we achieved 100 percent sorting. This means that construction residue from the project was reused, recycled or regenerated into energy in district heating. Nothing was sent to landfill. This is one of the shared experiences we take with us into construction of the next school,” says Stellan Haraldson, Region Manager Peab.

Property Management has already ordered time critical work like groundwork. This work is included in the total contract sum. The project is a turnkey contract in partnering and is expected to be completed in November 2023.

The project will be order registered in the second quarter 2021.
