The proposal got the highest points in the land allocation contest created by Håbo municipality and the wood and glass building will be located next to the travel center in Bålsta. It will fit 55 apartments as well as office spaces on three floors. On the ground floor a restaurant and café is planned and the general public will be able to get to the building’s rooftop by an elevator from the square.

The wooden frame is the foundation, while the glass facades contribute to the building’s lightness. And with help from wind turbines on top, Håbohus counts on the self-produced energy covering half of the building’s usage.

“We use a well known building material in a new and exciting way while also make an effort for the environment. The ambition is to create a unique living situation and also a building that all of Håbo can be proud of. We are very excited to have been assigned this project” says Mats Norrbrand, CEO at Håbohus.

The current tallest wooden building is the 14 stories tall Treet, located in Norwegian Bergen.
