Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget i Norden AB (SBB) has, via its subsidiary Hemfosa Projektutveckling AB, signed a project planning agreement with the Police Authority in order to develop a new police station totalling approximately 7,500 sq m in the centre of Örnsköldsvik, on land allocated by the Municipality of Örnsköldsvik.
The Police Authority has developed a strategy for the development of its operations until 2024. Strategy 2024 includes, amongst others, a new vision, an updated operations idea and revised targets for the Police Authority. To be able to implement Strategy 2024, the Police Authority’s premises need to be expanded and developed.
"The police station has been discussed and investigated for a number of years, and it is gratifying that a collaboration between SBB, the Police Authority and the Municipality of Örnsköldsvik has now reached the planning phase," says Annika Ekström, Head of Asset Management Community Service Properties at Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget i Norden AB.
The new police station will be built centrally in Örnsköldsvik and is judged to be able to meet the needs of the Police Authority on the basis of its location and design.
The police station is planned to be completed during 2023. The lease for the new police station is expected to be signed during the fourth quarter 2020. The term of the lease is 15 years, commencing in 2023.
