Ilija Batljan believes that his company will have approximately ten employees this summer.

The company is aiming for property development, apartments and in the long run social properties, but not in Stockholm.

“The market today is very risk aversive, everyone wants to own properties in central Stockholm, not a soul wants to purchase in cities like Ludvika, Skara, Falköping and Tidaholm, that’s what I’m aiming towards” Ilija Batljan said.

“Ludvika has existed for 1,000 years and I think that Ludvika will exist for another 1,000. The math is easy; you can purchase at a yield of six percent, that means that you can have a vacancy of 20 percent before it corresponds to five percent.”

“I am going to build a company that develops and owns housing and social properties in all of Sweden, I think that will be a great deal”.

Ilija Batljan, who has previously been a social democratic politician, was asked if he wished to be housing Minister:

“No, I would have suggested Lennart Weiss. It would have been great with a minister with a wide anchoring in the business.”

The first deal for Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget is now completed. Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget has purchased an office property that will be converted to apartments.

“We have purchased the old dairy factory and plan on initiating a detail plan process to then build 7,000-8,000 sqm apartments” says Ilija Batljan, who also praised Uppsala as a market.

“I would say that Uppsala is Sweden’s best real estate market. I have a great respect for the politics in Uppsala, both for the red and the blue team. If all of Sweden could display the unity that Uppsala does the country’s housing shortage would not be as bad.”
