The project will leverage technology and sustainability to create exceptional value for guests through high quality and design.

The European and Nordic hotel market are showing strong performance after the pandemic, as traveling for work and pleasure over short and longer periods is increasing. The Nordics are an attractive destination, but there is a shortage of high-quality, modern accommodation. This, combined with the potential to improve the efficiency of hotel operations through technology, present value-creation opportunities. By sourcing and scaling up the most attractive investments, Slättö aims to create high-quality hospitality portfolios in major cities and regional markets in the Nordics.

In line with Slättö’s thematic investment strategy, the team assesses market conditions across real estate segments and acts on the most interesting themes. One theme where Slättö sees strong value creation opportunities is hotel and co-living with high design standards and technology-driven operations.

"There is significant value creation potential in hospitality real estate in the current market for investors with expertise. Slättö aims to continue to invest within this segment and we are thrilled about our cooperation with Bob W," says Erik Möller, Head of Hotels at Slättö.

"We are excited to join forces with Slättö in developing this Helsinki property. By intertwining the area’s historical charm with design, quality and technology, we'll create a unique experience for the next generation of traveller," comments Emilia Malmi, Bob W CEO Northern Europe.

Slättö's strong track record as a real estate investor and Bob W's success in innovative and tech-driven hospitality make for a powerful combination in the Nordics.

"This project will see the renovation of a building from the 1980s in downtown Helsinki, adding value to the central business district – a fantastic step in our growth in Finland," says Ilkka Salminen, Country Head Finland, Slättö. “We look forward to a successful project with Bob W, an innovative and rapidly growing player in this segment, to rejuvenate an older property for modern times.”

Slättö’s investment in the Helsinki property is to be refurbished into a Bob W location certified under the environmental scheme LEED. The property will offer 55 rooms and suites and will use technology to give guests a high-quality living experience with the authenticity and functionality of an actual home.

Renovation work has started and the property is expected to open to the public during 2024.
