“We are very pleased to be building Nicolinehus. The building will be one of the architectural gems of Aarhus Docklands. As a contractor, we are honored to be involved in the development of Aarhus and to be contributing to some of the city’s most distinctive buildings,” says Mogens Nielsen, Head of NCC Building Nordics West, Denmark.
Nicolinehus will be constructed in Aarhus Docklands, an emerging neighborhood between the former city center and container port area, close to the sea, beaches and forest. Nicolinehus will also be a unique construction project comprising two triangular blocks placed closely together, with staggered terraces in buildings up to 17 stories high overlooking the quay from two directions.
The project comprises 181 tenant-owned apartments, 60 rental units and 6,000 square meters of office space. In addition, NCC will construct a market hall with cafés and stalls, a large grocery store and small stores on street level. There will also be restaurants and an area with a swimming pool, as well as a fitness center and about 450 parking spaces in the basement.
NCC has previously built Isbjerget, Dokk1 and Havneholmen at Aarhus Docklands. Hercules Fundering, a part of NCC, has already started laying the foundations for Nicolinehus.
“This construction project stands out in terms of location, architecture and quality, and will help to make Aarhus more attractive and appealing. A construction on this unique site entails responsibilities. With Nicolinehus, which we are building together with NCC, we are hoping to meet expectations,” says Philip Foss, Director of Bricks.
Construction will start after the summer and is scheduled for completion by 2022. The total project value is nearly SEK 1.4 billion and the order will be registered in the NCC Building Nordics business area in the second quarter of 2019.
