NCC’s “Next” project is located in the Keilaniemi district of Espoo, which is the second largest and fastest-growing city in Finland and part of the Finnish Capital Region around Helsinki. Keilaniemi is a well-established office district where many companies have located their head offices.
The starting point for the design of Next was the creation of inspiring, unique office premises. “Next” will be the first structure people will encounter at the entrance to Keilaniemi. The building will be nine floors high and the gross total area is approximately 10,000 square meters.
“Inspiring people is one of our strategic priorities. We want to offer our employees a modern work environment that gives them space for interactive collaboration as well as quiet work, teamwork, meetings and idea generation. The building’s work environment was designed in partnership with our employees so that everyone can perform at their best in an environment that promotes their well-being. Our goal is to make establishing contact between various functions and teams easier,” says Niklas Lindholm, Chief Human Resources Resource Officer at Fiskars Group.
The Fiskars Group brands include Fiskars, Gerber, Iittala, Royal Copenhagen, Waterford and Wedgwood. The company has approximately 7,300 employees in 30 countries.
“As a property developer, we want to create office premises that promote sustainable development, that rouse feelings and build up a new, vibrant city culture. Fiskars Group represents unique brands entirely in line with the unique character of the building, which unites sustainable design, high-class craftsmanship and an understanding of people’s daily lives,” says Yirui Jiang, Head of Property Development and Project Management at NCC Property Development.
The building is being constructed in accordance with the international environmental certification system BREEAM, with its sights set on a rating of “Excellent.” The goal is to plan and construct a building that is ecologically, socially and financially sustainable throughout its service life.
The project was designed by the Sarc architectural firm and has a close connection to the surrounding park. The geographic location of the area is ideal for public transportation and for bicycling to and from work.
Construction is planned to start in the first quarter of 2020 and completion of the project is expected in December 2021. Fiskars Group has signed a lease for the entire property.
“Inspiring people is one of our strategic priorities. Our aim is to provide people a modern work environment that offers spaces for collaboration, quiet tasks, team work, informal interactions, and creating ideas. The work environment will be planned together with our people, so they can do their best work in a setting that supports their wellbeing. Our aim is to make it easier for people to create contacts across functions and teams,” explains Niklas Lindholm, Chief People Officer of Fiskars Group.
