Johan Karlström will remain President and CEO until Skanska’s Annual General Meeting, April 13 2018, when he will also step down from the Board of Skanska. He will serve as Senior advisor until January 2019.

Johan Karlström first joined Skanska in 1983 and has held a wide number of positions in the company: site manager, estimator, project engineer, project manager and regional manager. He was appointed President and CEO for Skanska in April 2008. Before that he had been a member of the Senior Executive Team since 2001 with responsibility for the business units in the Nordics and the construction operations in USA.

“Johan Karlström has successfully driven the company’s financial and operational synergies, consistently delivered a profitable construction stream and grown the development business with very strong results. Today the development business represents a significant part of the company’s value. Johan is an excellent leader who has been very present in the organization and mentored and guided many people in their career within Skanska. With integrity and a firm ethical compass he has lead the company to deliver a positive contribution to society”, says Hans Biörck, Chairman of the Board of Skanska.

“Skanska is a great company. It’s a financially strong and value-driven company with dedicated and competent people delivering world class projects. It has truly been a privilege to be part of that for almost all of my professional life”, says Johan Karlström.

The work of appointing a successor to Johan Karlström has been initiated and the ambition is to present the new CEO by the end of the year.
