The DGNB certified landmark asset consists of 11 residential buildings that were completed between 2021 and 2023 and includes a retail hub facing the passage through the buildings. The asset is situated in a sought-after location, next to Rødovre Station with a 12-minute commute to Copenhagen Central Station. The asset is suitable for both rental - and owner-occupier markets due to the infrastructural benefits, high technical quality, and attractive amenities. These attributes provide strategic flexibility for developing and optimising the area.
The acquisition marks Pictet’s first residential real estate transaction in Denmark, following a successful journey that has previously focused on logistics and light industrial.
Viga now manages 27 residential assets in and around Copenhagen with gross asset value in excess of EUR 500 million.
“We’ve been scanning the residential market in Denmark for some time to find the right entry point. In project Gateway we see a great opportunity to take a well-built asset of scale, in a great location, and improve it further together with Viga. We continue to look for new opportunities, both within residential and logistics with a view to build up a sizeable portfolio in Denmark over time,” says Linus Nilsson, Head of Nordics, Real Estate at Pictet Alternative Advisors.
“We are excited to announce the acquisition of this landmark asset in the Copenhagen area. At Viga we have a great track-record in managing and optimising residential real estate assets in Denmark and look forward to applying our expertise together with Pictet,” says Kristian Vinther, Founding Partner at Viga:
“We are proud to have been part of the successful development of Project Gateway and are happy to hand over the project to Viga and Pictet as new caretakers. Project Gateway is the single largest development project ever initiated and completed by Gefion Group,” says Thomas Færch, CEO of the seller Gefion Group.
