The municipality of Gävle and the municipality of Sandviken have decided to sell a total of 130 hectares of land to Microsoft, creating the conditions for one of Sweden's major international investments.
Sweden is attractive for companies looking for stable, safe and sustainable environments. Gävle-Sandviken is one of the country's strongest industrial and export regions, with forces like available labor, land, green electricity, stable operational safety and proximity to Stockholm and Arlanda.
In total, the municipality of Gävle and the municipality of Sandviken sell 130 hectares of land, which amount to approximately 260 football fields.
Microsoft has been active in Sweden for 33 years, and currently employs about 600 people, primarily in Stockholm, Gothenburg and Linköping.
As the plans for the land evolve, Microsoft will work in close collaboration with the municipalities and citizens of Gävle and Sandviken.
