“NCC and Tranåsbostäder have worked together on several projects. With our collective expertise and experience, we are looking forward to continuing our productive collaboration now that the time has come to build another school in Tranås,” says Magnus Nilsson, CEO of AB Tranåsbostäder.
NCC and Tranåsbostäder will now commence work on Granelund school. The first sod will be turned in March and according to the schedule, the school will be ready for the start of the autumn term 2025. Granelund school will be built in the Humlan area, a new district in Tranås. The school will comprise 8,700 square meters over two floors and have a maximum capacity of 600 pupils with three classes per academic year.
“NCC has been involved since the start of the project and has been able to contribute many of our skills. Granelund school is the result of close and effective collaboration between our operations, Tranåsbostäder and the architect. Together, we have tackled the challenging planning phase with great dedication, and we now look forward to initiating the meticulously planned construction phase,” says Henrik Landelius, Head of NCC Building Sweden.
The school building will comprise three connected blocks. The section closest Norraby will contain classrooms, homerooms and an afterschool care center. The mid-section will house the canteen, kitchen and administrative office, a number of pre-school classes and specialist classrooms. The third block is the new sports hall that will also have 300 spectator seats.
Granelund school will be built to meet a Silver environmental rating from the Sweden Green Building Council. As a further step to promote sustainability, a rooftop solar panel system will be installed. NCC is also building Junkaremål school in Tranås, which is expected to be completed in autumn 2024.
The order value of about SEK 250 million will be registered during the first quarter of 2023 in the NCC Building Sweden business area.
