The new facility will cover an area of approximately 33,000 sqm, part of which will consist of high bay storage of 30 metres in height. The facility will be built on the Stigamo 1:49 property, which was acquired by Nivika Fastigheter earlier this year and it will have a plot area of just over 85,100 sqm. Catena has signed a nine-year lease agreement with third-party logistics company Nowaste Logistics for 13,000 sqm of the new facility, with an option to also lease the remaining space. Nowaste Logistics intends to use the facility to handle flows of goods for Granngården, a leading retail company in gardening and agriculture.

The new facility, which is being certified to BREEAM Excellent, has high sustainability standards. The aim is to construct the building using a wooden frame to reduce the carbon footprint, to implement smart solutions for energy consumption and rainwater collection systems, and to ensure well-thought out green spaces to preserve and encourage biodiversity. The plan is to install photovoltaic systems on the roof.

“We want to grow with our tenants, and Catena’s contribution to helping Nowaste Logistics get established in a new geographical market is fully in line with that strategy. Our long history together, where we have added new warehouse space in various stages at Logistikposition Tostarp in Helsingborg, means that we feel very confident in the arrangement and are looking forward to a successful collaboration in Jönköping as well,” says Jörgen Eriksson, CEO of Catena.

Nowaste Logistics is a progressive and fast-growing logistics company. The company is a leading logisitics player, with a focus on handling-intensive logistics and with core expertise in automation, IT and leadership, and establishing operations in Jönköping is part of Nowaste Logistics’ strategic focus going forward. Nowaste Logistics is a wholly owned subsidiary of Dole plc, listed on the NYSE.

“The fact that we’re now establishing operations in a new location is of great importance to us. We’re making a major investment, and Jönköping is one of the places that has been of interest for a long time. When choosing a property company, one factor of great importance for us and for our customers was the company‘s sustainability efforts, and how we can best meet our needs without compromising the climate and the environment,” says Johan Kallin, CEO of Nowaste Logistics.

The property is located close to Catena’s newly constructed building for Elgiganten.
