Since the start of 2022, NCC has been working in partnership with the health authority, architects and advisors to develop a hospital building with the highest level of security to house psychiatric care for patients from across the region. The focus has been on creating a building with stringent standards in terms of robustness, quality and security. The region has now taken the decision to start construction.
The building comprises a total area of 14,500 square meters and has two main sections, one for inpatient units and a reception building. The inpatient unit will have 66 beds, including 14 isolation rooms and 6 intensive care beds. The assignment also includes the construction of outdoor areas and perimeter protection.
“A thorough and productive collaboration phase with extensive surveys has furnished us with invaluable information on what is important to patients, staff and other users of the building. The above, in combination with our experience and expertise in designing secure buildings, provides excellent preconditions for a successful production phase. We look forward to the start of construction of this important societal function,” says Catarina Molén-Runnäs, Head of NCC Building Nordics.
Construction is scheduled to start in summer 2023 and handover is scheduled to the beginning of 2026.
The order value of SEK 1 billion will be registered during the second quarter of 2023 in the business area NCC Building Nordics.
