"We are of course both happy and proud that we have won the competition for this assignment, which has been worked on for a long time now. Good student housing and infrastructure are important to many in Gjøvik, and we are already building 98 student housing for Sit på Kallerud. We are thankful for the renewed trust and look forward to continuing the good cooperation with the municipality as well", says district manager Geirmund Østvold in Veidekke Bygg Indre Østland.

The project includes the construction of a car park of approximately 5,500 m2 on two levels, partly underground, and two eight-storey buildings with 245 student apartments on a total of nearly 7,000 m2. The use of wood in external walls and solid wood in load-bearing structures will help to reduce CO2 emissions from the buildings. Emphasis has also been placed on good outdoor areas around the project, which will be arranged for social activities for the students.

The mayor of Gjøvik municipality, Anne Bjertnæs, is also satisfied that the project is now realised.
"The municipality's plot of land in Røverdalen is now being replaced by housing and a car park. The buildings will be a contribution to the densification of Gjøvik and will contribute to creating more life in the town centre. At the same time, there will be more parking spaces near the Fjellhallen main hall and the new swimming hall, which is also being rehabilitated now", says mayor Bjertnæs.

We are finally building new student housing in Røverdalen, says a satisfied Arvid Skjervik, head of projects and development at Sit bolig.
"Building student housing in Røverdalen has been a goal since 2016, and now it will be student housing with an emphasis on environmental sustainability in the building stock and social sustainability for the residents, with large, social collectives and great common areas on the ground floors", adds Arvid Skjervik.

The design work will start in January, while construction is planned to start in May with completion by the start of the semester in autumn 2026. The assignment is part of Veidekke's order reserve for the fourth quarter.
