The space will be named UMA Teurastamo (“The Slaughterhouse”), as the space is located in the block called “Trooli” in Helsinki’s old meatpacking district Teurastamo.
”Shared workspaces are becoming increasingly popular in Helsinki as in many of the biggest cities in the world. Companies are seeking more efficiency and flexibility in the volatile and rapidly changing business environment, but at the same time they need to attract the best talent by providing employees with centrally located, motivating and well serviced workspaces. The UMA concept is our answer to this growing demand and it has proven to be a successful one,” says Keith Silverang, CEO of Technopolis.
“For example, UMA Esplanadi in downtown Helsinki has become a very popular space for both big and small companies: all our private offices are full, the majority of hot desks are in use, and our customer satisfaction just reached 4.4 out of 5.0 (Q2, 2018),” Silverang continues.
UMA is an essential part of Technopolis’ strategy. The company has reserved 30 million euros to build up a network of 20 UMA coworking spaces in the biggest cities of the Nordic and Baltic Sea region by the end of 2020. These will be stand-alone facilities located outside the Technopolis’ campus network. UMA Teurastamo will be Technopolis’ fourth stand-alone coworking space. The first one was opened in Helsinki in 2016, the second in downtown Stockholm in April 2018 and the third will open in the Copenhagen city center in September 2018.
“We intend to expand our footprint in Helsinki and in other major cities in the Nordic and Baltic Sea region. We will deploy our concept aggressively, rapidly and professionally and are aiming to launch more UMAs very soon,” Silverang says.
UMA is designed to meet the rising demand for flexibility, efficiency and service by offering premium shared workspaces in central locations with all the needed services ranging from state-of-the-art digital solutions and modern conference rooms to specialty coffee and networking events. Customers will get access to all of these spaces and services with a single membership.
“We believe there is a lot of demand for modern, high-quality workspaces in rapidly developing Kalasatama region. We offer a professional work environment that has been designed with Nordic mentality: inspiring, fresh and functional activity based office where people can really focus on their work and at the same time have a community around them,” says Technopolis’ Service Director Niko Pulli.
“We are very excited to launch UMA Teurastamo. It’s a fantastic location with great public transport connections as well as a bank cluster, Teurastamo’s terrific restaurants, and the new shopping mall Redi around the corner. We’re happy to join the local business hub and bring the benefits of professional coworking space to the area,” Pulli says.
