CBRE is strengthening its position in the European Residential investment markets with the addition of Linda Anttila to the European Residential Capital Markets team. The team, led by Thomas Westerhof, has more than 50 full-time residential investment professionals across Europe. Linda will continue being part of CBRE’s team in Finland but will also take on dedicated responsibility for the company’s Residential Capital Markets activities in the Finnish market, adding to CBRE’s Residential capabilities in the Nordics.

2018 was a record year for the European real estate investment market with an investment volume of EUR 312 billion. It was also a record year for the residential sector as the investment volume exceeded EUR 50 billion, representing an increase of 22 percent from 2017. Furthermore, the residential sector was able to cement its position as the second-largest asset class – surpassing retail for the first time. 2018 was also a strong year for the residential sector in Finland, with a transaction volume of almost EUR 2 billion making it the ninth largest residential market in Europe.

To respond to the needs of the changing market and investors’ demand, CBRE has integrated more than 50 residential investment professionals from across the region into one team, allowing the firm to provide cross-border experience with the best-in-class advice and execution across the residential platform.

On 1 March 2019, Linda Anttila, M.Sc. (Econ.) & M.Sc. (Tech.), was appointed as Associate Director responsible for Residential Capital Markets in Finland. Linda originally joined CBRE Finland’s Capital Markets team in 2015 and has considerable experience in transactions of all major property classes as well as different transaction types ranging from forward purchase to forward funding, portfolio deals and sale and leaseback. In her new role, Linda leads CBRE’s residential investment activities in Finland working in close cooperation with the European Residential Capital Markets team. Linda will continue reporting to Sami Kiehelä, who is responsible for all of CBRE’s capital market activities in Finland.

”We see a rapidly growing interest from international capital in the Finnish residential sector. Linda’s new role and a more focused and internationally integrated approach to residential investments will allow us to better serve our clients in this sector. This is also a great opportunity for Linda to assume a wider responsibility in the firm,” says Sami Kiehelä, Senior Director, Head of Capital Markets.

“We are seeing strong investment opportunities in the Residential markets in the Nordics underpinned by supportive economic and demographic drivers and favorable demand/supply imbalances. Finland in particular, being one of the fastest growing Residential investment markets in Europe, is positioning itself quickly as a market of strategic importance. With the addition of Linda to our team, we have made a big step towards our objective of establishing a leading Residential Capital Markets presence in the Nordics,“ says Thomas Westerhof, Senior Director, Head of Residential Investment Properties, Continental Europe.

“I have high expectations for my new role and collaboration with our Residential Capital Markets team. I believe the Finnish residential investment market has not reached its full potential yet. Through our cross- border network we have extensive knowledge and experience of working with international and local investors, developers, constructors and lenders. I look forward to implementing this experience in the Finnish residential market,” says Linda Anttila, Associate Director, Residential Capital Markets.
