"We submitted a well-prepared bid for an exciting assignment that we are very pleased to have won. We have extensive experience of public housing areas, and I am certain that the comprehensive refurbishment work and the new rooftop apartments will make Rønnebærparken/Æblehaven an attractive place to live,” says Niels Engberg, Head of NCC Refurbishment in Denmark.
The areas of Rønnebærhaven and Æbleparken were built in the 1970s. These will now be refurbished and remodeled to make 207 housing units out of the existing 291 apartments. The contact also includes the new construction of 71 rooftop apartments on top of the existing buildings.
NCC will optimize the area by employing a simple and timeless architectural profile using innovative modular solutions. In addition, NCC will build new rooftop apartments including roof decks.
“We are pleased about the collaboration with NCC on our largest comprehensive plan to date in Æblehaven and Rønnebærparken in Roskilde. With NCC as contractor, we have a partner that is prepared to assume responsibility for the project it delivers and with whom we can discuss the various solutions for the construction work as the project proceeds,” says Per Bro, Construction Manager for the Boligselskabet Sjælland rental housing company.
NCC will initially conduct a number of pilot projects to achieve as smooth a process as possible that takes existing tenants into consideration.
“We are looking forward to commencing the refurbishment of the housing units together with NCC, so that we can offer our tenants improved and more energy-efficient housing,” says Construction Manager Per Bro.
The pilot projects will be conducted during the autumn, while the actual construction will commence in 2020. The refurbishment is expected to be completed in April 2023. The project will be registered in orders during the third quarter of 2019 in the NCC Building Nordics business area.
