NCC Property Development acquired the property from KY Foundation, a student organization at the School of Business of Aalto University, in December 2020. The property is situated in central Helsinki and the project has an area of approximately 7,500 square meters.

“We are remodeling this corner property and creating a space for a future mobile working culture with flexible and modern office premises close to services. The central location offers excellent traffic connections and top visibility, making the building a perfect choice as a company headquarters,” says Joachim Holmberg, Head of NCC Property Development.

The property will be renamed Kulma21 (“Corner21”) and house offices in the top six floors, with space for service and a new prominent entrance on the ground floor. The property will also have a basement with space for events in addition to a roof terrace.

The building will be the first in Finland to be certified Excellent as per the latest criteria of the BREEAM environmental rating system for renovation projects. The Finnish Heritage Agency has also classified the building a cultural environment of significant national value.

“NCC has extensive experience of renovating and remodeling buildings of historical value and we know how to give them a new shine and modify them for the future, while at the same time respecting and preserving their history. The KY Building will remain a landmark for the future,” says Joachim Holmberg.

The project will be carried out in the NCC Property Development business area and the contract was registered in the NCC Building Nordics business area’s order book in the first quarter of 2021.

Renovation work will commence in April 2021 and is scheduled to be completed in 2023.
