Alive offers quality apartments with a high standard to young adults aged 18-35. Initially, 162 rent regulated residentials are being built in Uppsala and Rosendal. In these apartments, rents are 30 per cent lower compared to other new construction. Completion is estimated to take place in December 2022.

Sustainable housing is created by being socially and environmentally long-term focused and by creating financial security for its tenants the Alive concept is at the forefront and creates conditions for young adults to get their own home and thus enter the housing market.

All houses are built in wood in accordance with SBB's Vision 2030 that at least half of all new production shall be built in wood. Alive contributes to a sustainable lifestyle where tenants want to take responsibility for reducing their climate impact. The concept intends to drive new innovations to reduce CO2 and energy consumption, among other things, through collaboration with Uppsala University Sustainability Initiatives. The collaboration aims at innovation in sustainability and to develop collaboration between business, universities and municipalities.

Partners in the project are Lindbäck's Bygg, Tengbom Arkitekter and Uppsala University.

Currently, more than 500,000 young people lack a long-term and stable home (Swedish Tenants' Association 2019) in Sweden. Six out of ten young people in the Stockholm region cannot afford to live in new build rental apartments. Alive's unique living concept means that young people can realise their housing dreams of their own long-term housing with significantly lower risk, without high mortgages and without having to invest personally.
