Sports facilities are an important part of society's infrastructure. Our goal is to make three important contributions in collaboration with Sweden's municipalities and sports associations:
# initiate the construction of sports halls
# modernize existing older facilities
# increase the number of sports facilities in Sweden
“Everyone should have the opportunity to partake in sports in their immediate vicinity in accessible and inviting sports facilities. Research shows that the distance to a sports facility is of great importance for sports associations and the opportunity to engage people in regular physical activity. Therefore, more sports halls are crucial to respond to an ever-growing need, for all age groups, for sporting opportunities,” says Tommy Ohlström, CEO, SBB Idrott för alla AB.
SBB takes responsibility and contributes to building a better society. The real estate industry has great potential to influence by contributing solutions for increased health, security, well-being and trust. SBB's core business is social infrastructure and the property portfolio consists mainly of social assets such as educational premises, care premises, rent-regulated residentials, homes for the elderly and premises for other socially important activities. To that list we now add sports facilities and thus take greater responsibility for public health.
“Public health is important for our society and we must all be involved in creating the conditions for the sports associations to continue their important work. It is important that sports facilities are given priority in planning when cities are densified or when new residential areas are built. The need for new facilities is great and here we can be involved and take responsibility. SBB is now making a major investment and initially SEK 1 billion will be invested, which may well be both SEK 2 billion and SEK 3 billion," says Ilija Batljan, CEO and Founder, Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget i Norden AB.
