As a response to the strong growth in the region, Westerlinds, together with Svensk Bostadsinvest and Altira, is starting the new northern housing company Westerlinds Residensia AB. As the first transaction, 607 apartments in Örnsköldsvik are acquired by the municipal housing company Övikshem. The underlying property value amounts to SEK 443.5 million and the total area to 38,789 square meters. Access will take place on 2 May 2024.
In connection with the deal, homes from Westerlind's holdings in Umeå and Härnösand are also integrated, which means that the new company will initially own around 800 homes and a smaller number of premises.
"When we entered this process, the economy was not our only focus, it was also about finding the right buyer. A new responsible owner who we feel has the conditions to manage the properties in a safe and sustainable way. It is gratifying to be able to leave over the properties to an experienced and professional property manager who also already has local knowledge in Örnsköldsvik," says Övikshem CEO Lars Österlund.
