Nordic non-life insurance group Sampo Plc is relocating its headquarters to Fabianinkatu 21, the prestigious office building which has recently been redeveloped by Sponda, one of Finland’s leading real estate asset management companies.

Sampo’s headquarters will move back to Fabianinkatu 21 in the summer of 2025, where the company operated in the early 2000s. The modernised full-service building will provide Sampo with international-level facilities and a generous selection of services to facilitate daily convenience.

Sampo’s biggest priority when relocating its headquarters was finding a central location in Helsinki’s CBD.

“The goal was to find modern and comfortable spaces that are easily accessible and that will attract our staff to work at the office more frequently. Additionally, the office building needed to meet our high sustainability standards”, says Kai Sotamaa, Sampo’s Risk Management Director.

Sampo will occupy an entire 2,800 square metre floor at Fabian 21, with terraces offering panoramic views of the Helsinki skyline. The building features an impressive range of amenities including a private kitchen, studio as well as technologically advanced meeting rooms. Occupiers will also benefit from the Bank and Scolare restaurants, a wine bar, the Elixia gym, auditorium facilities and an elegant lobby area with high-quality and diverse reception services, all contributing to Sampo’s new inspiring work environment and focus on employee well-being.

“Businesses are increasingly investing in the well-being of their staff by offering comfortable, centrally located spaces to promote collaboration, learning and innovation. Employee interaction is crucial for a company’s development and the strengthening of its corporate culture, which form the key pillars of employee well-being. I am pleased that we can offer Sampo spaces that support the company’s goals to create an inspiring and comfortable work environment”, says Christian Hohenthal, Sponda’s CEO.

The Fabian 21 building, certified at the BREEAM In-Use Excellent level, uses 100% renewable energy. A solar power plant will be installed on the building’s roof during autumn of 2024. The building also features extensive waste sorting and recycling facilities. Additionally, Fabian 21’s electric car charging points, comfortable social spaces, bicycle storage and maintenance facilities, and an inspiring environment near the sea and park encourage sustainable mobility.
