“Our ambition is to be the largest hotel group in the Nordic region, so naturally we want to exist in all Nordic countries. We have been on the lookout for interesting projects in Finland and when we saw the plans for this hotel there was no doubt that it would be a Nordic Choice hotel” says Torgeir Silseth, CEO at Nordic Choice Hotels.

The hotel will be built right by the water in Jätkässari, a town in southern Helsinki.

“Jätkessari is the Helsinki of the future. 17,000 new residences and 6,000 new office spaces are being built. We are going to build a landmark that will be a natural meeting point for the residents and visitors” says Arthur Buchardt, developer of the hotel.

With 429 rooms, 11 conference rooms, the largest being 700 sqm, the hotel will become Helsinki’s largest conference hotel. The hotel is drawn by Finnish architect Aki Davidsson and will consist of two 16 story towers. The hotel will be run by Clarion Hotel, which was recently crowned Sweden’s best hotel chain for the sixth consecutive year.

“Clarion Hotel Helsinki will be an important addition for Helsinki’s hotel market and proof that Helsinki is an important destination in the Nordics. The hotel will also be a landmark in the city as well as define the further development of the town Jätkassari” Jussi Pajunen, Mayor of Helsinki, finishes off.

At the hotel’s grand opening, a total of €100 M will have been invested in the project.

“It is daring to invest this amount of money in a volatile market, but we believe in Helsinki as a city and we think that this hotel will be profitable many years forth. Our ambition is that all five hotel chains within Nordic Choice Hotels will be represented in Finland, since we believe in our product and in the Finnish market” Torgeir Silseth ends.
