“We are now taking Jönköping Science Park to a new level. Science Park Towers will be the future meeting place for business, entrepreneurship and education, with the objective of creating more entrepreneurs, more high-growth companies and a strong regional innovation environment in Jönköping County. It is exciting that we have now initiated the construction work, in which our objective is a sustainable construction process with a focus on digitization,” says Magnus Olsson, CEO of JKPG Fast.

Science Park Towers is a complete property block that is to be constructed adjacent to the university and the existing Science Park in central Jönköping. The block will comprise a lower base in brick and four towers of varying heights, from seven to 15 floors.

The buildings will comprise a total of approximately 13,000 square meters and will mainly comprise office premises, as well as conference and event venues. A restaurant and lounge are to be built on the ground floor. There are spaces under ground for service and operational installations.

As part of efforts to create a meeting place for sustainable entrepreneurship and innovation, the project is being conducted with a focus on sustainability and resource efficiency. For example, digital services will be used to track and optimize the use of machines, vehicles and tools, and to minimize transport journeys to and from the worksite. The buildings have also been planned according to the Sweden Green Building Council Silver level, which places strict demands on, for example, low energy consumption, good indoor environment and healthy choice of materials.

“We have worked closely together with JKPG Fast to create the best conditions for a cost-effective project and a sustainable construction process using digital solutions. It is inspiring to be able to contribute to the development of Jönköping and create an innovative meeting place for the entrepreneurs of tomorrow,” says Henrik Landelius, Business Area Manager of NCC Building Sweden.

The assignment is a turnkey contract that will be carried out in partnering form. The cooperation commenced in 2019 and since then, the parties have worked on the planning, budgeting and the project design for the construction work.

Earth and groundworks have commenced and the property block is expected to be completed in the summer of 2023.

The assignment is valued at approximately SEK 440 million and will be registered among orders in the first quarter of 2021 in the NCC Building Sweden business area.
