“Sörby is probably one of Sweden’s most active wind power projects right now. Through this deal we show Kraftö’s ability to follow our project from idea to procurement and construction. We are very pleased with the confidence from Allianz Capital Partners, one of the largest financial investors in renewable energy in the world” says Anders Barne, CEO at Kraftö.
Allianz Capital Partners is The Allianz Group’s internal investment manager for alternative investments. This acquisition is Allianz Capital Partners’ third Swedish wind farm and an ownership of approximately 280 MW in Sweden, equivalent to a year’s supply for approximately 45,000 normal sized houses.
“We are very pleased about strengthening our position on the Swedish wind power market and look forward to working with Kraftö to ensure a good construction and optimal long term operation of the project” says David Jones, Head of Renewable Energy at Allianz Capital Partners.
Newsec has been Kraftö’s exclusive financial advisors in the deal as well as being advisors in conjunction with Allianz’s previous acquisitions in Sweden.
“We detect a trend where international investors are drawn to wind power as an alternative investment. The market situation however is currently very challenging with record low energy prices. Sörby i a strong case where we work together with Kraftö to optimise the potential” says Omid Ashrafi, Head of Infrastructure and Energy Newsec.
Sörby, located in Ljusdal and Bollnäs municipalities, will consist of 37 Vestas V117 3.3 MW windmills. It is the largest wind power project that Kraftö has worked with so far, and creates a new milestone in the company’s development due to also having responsibility for the construction of the farm. The operation is calculated to commence in August 2016.
