Nihdin Torni is an energy class A building. The building will include solar panels, and domestic water will be pre-heated with waste heat collected from the apartments’ waste water. The monitoring of each apartment’s water consumption helps conserve water. Informed by the carbon footprint calculation, the materials selected for the site are more eco-friendly, such as low-carbon hollow-core slabs. Wind-generated electricity is the only source of energy used at the site during construction.
The apartments of Nihdin Torni have an area of 38.5–166 m2. The communal rooftop terraces and club and sauna facilities offer vistas over Mustikkamaa and Korkeasaari as well as a view of the city skyline of central Helsinki. Steps designed to act as a meeting place lead to a comfortable courtyard. Under the yard deck, there will be a parking garage with a lift connection to each housing company on the block. All parking spaces of Nihdin Torni are equipped with an electric car charger. The block will include a shared recycling room as well as a bicycle washing station.
Nihdin Torni is constructed as part of the Lukki block, where YIT’s previously started projects, Asunto Oy Helsingin Nihdin Portti and Asunto Oy Helsingin Nihdin Kulma, are currently under construction. The completion of Nihdin Torni will complete the Lukki block as a whole. Located at the junction of the Crown Bridges and the tramways from Kalasatama to Pasila, the block offers easy access to the services in Kalasatama and good transport connections.
