Hemsö signed a binding acquisition agreement for Odinsskolan in August 2023 and will take possession of the vacant property in the first quarter of 2024. The listed building from 1918 with a rentable area of 4,000 square meters has housed educational activities ever since it was built. In the premises, Academedia's high school Drottning Blanka Gårda will conduct education in economics, hotel and tourism as well as the health and care program.
"We are happy to have signed a lease with Academedia so that school activities will continue to be conducted in this beautiful and unique building. It feels good that we can contribute with new high school places in central Gothenburg. Drottnings Blanka's students will get the best mix of a historic building with cultural value combined with fresh premises that are adapted for the teaching to be conducted," says Hanna Tengberg, project developer at Hemsö.
"It really feels good that our school can continue a century-old tradition of education in this historic school building. It is a privilege to be able to study and work in the heart of Gothenburg and our students and teachers are of course looking forward to the move, says Jens Levin, director of education for Drottning Blanka's high school area at Academedia.
Odinsskolan is close to the central station and stops for both bus and tram. Extensive development is underway in the area to create new workplaces and housing as well as opportunities for recreation, trade, service and culture.
Drottnings Blanka's high school Gårda is moving into the building for the autumn semester 2024 after completed renovation.
