The 6,500-sqm premises will provide school places for 450 students from Turku International School, as well as 90 preschool places. The premises will undergo re-development and adaptations. A new sports centre will be built, as well as new classrooms for music, art, home economics, crafts and science, and a prep kitchen and lunchroom.

At the same time, the premises occupied by the Turku University of Applied Sciences – a current tenant in the building – will be refurbished.

“We are delighted that we can meet the needs of the Turku International School and the University for modern and purpose-built premises. In the school playground, we will develop a pleasant area with spaces for physical activity and play, as well as peace and quiet,” says Jarkko Leinonen, Head of Region, Finland at Hemsö.

The project is scheduled to commence at the end of 2024, with occupancy planned for spring 2026.

Hemsö owns educational properties of approximately 150,000 square metres in Finland, including Paavola campus in Lahti with nearly 3,000 students. In Turku, Hemsö owns several health care and hospital properties, as well as a majority stake in Turku Technology Properties.
