“We are thrilled about the Land and Environment Court of Appeal ruling confirming the Stockholm City Council decision from 2012 on a new local plan for Albano. We can conclude that the Court fully supported the city’s case and dismissed all remaining claims. This is also a great day for the University Capital and knowledge region of Stockholm. Stockholm’s success is directly linked to providing our universities and colleges with the opportunity to develop and ensuring that many people will want to study and do research here. Consequently more and better educational facilities, as well as undergraduate and graduate student residences and various types of innovative meeting places are needed,” says Sten Wetterblad, Regional Director of Akademiska Hus, Stockholm region.

The new Albano campus with 100,000 sqm of university facilities and 1,000 student housing units will be an important place for outstanding research and higher education. The campus will offer excellent conditions for the meetings and collaborations across disciplines and institutional boundaries that are the hallmark of a modern university environment.

The ruling cannot be appealed.
